Meet Skye, CarMax’s innovative virtual assistant. Designed to guide customers through their car-buying journey, Skye assists with vehicle research, test drive scheduling, and general inquiries. I played a pivotal role in bringing Skye to life, collaborating closely with designer Brett Ruiz to animate and develop the character based on his initial concept. The final product was animated then exported as a JS/HTML application for seamless integration.
Leveraging AI files, I developed new animated assets optimized for export. These assets were converted to JS/HTML using BodyMovin (Lottie) for seamless integration.
Quickly realized ...Illustrator will wrap the gradient around the path while AE just gives you positional anchors to drag across the top of said object. So clearly we had no shadows. The other hurdle, utilizing the vertexes for animating the shapes. The main logo had plenty, while a circle usually has 4 ... So I started with the main logo to see how many vertexes I could rebuild it in (8 in case you're wondering). Next made a circular path and evenly place 4 more points and reset the first vertex and walaa. BUT, we still had to go seamlessly from one to another.
